How long should I burn the candle for?

It is recommended to burn candles for 1-3 hours and no more than 4 hours at a time. The longer a candle is lit for the larger the melted wax pool will become, a small wax pool approx 1cm deep is optimal.

Can I leave the candle burning unattended for a short while?

No. It is strongly advised never to leave a lit candle or naked flame unattended at all. Simply extinguish the candle before you leave the room and relight it when you return.

Are Sovereign candles suitable for vegans?

Yes, our suppliers confirm that the fragrances and the 100% plant based natural soy wax and cotton wicks we use are entirely suitable for vegans.

Can I reuse the glass bowl once the candle has finished?

Yes. Thoroughly wash and clean the empty bowl having removed any last remnants of candle wax, debris, wick tabs, label and adhesive. The glass container can then be reutilised or recycled.

Are the wax and wicks natural?

Yes, we use 100% natural soy bean wax blended with botanical oils, and cotton wicks. The glass bowl, cardboard gift box and outer packaging are recyclable. Like most branded candles we use fragrance oils specially blended for candles to give optimum scent throw, performance and consistency.

Should I trim the wicks?

Yes. To maintain the longevity and clean appearance of the candle, once the candle is completely cold, unlit and wax rehardened, carefully trim any loose, mushroomed or unsightly wick ends. Remove them from the candle leaving enough wick (5mm) remaining to relight. Any burnt wick ends, match droppings or debris in or on the candle may result in flame spitting or discolouration of the melted wax pool top layer.

The wax pooling has covered the entire surface of the candle, is this OK?

The perfect candle will have the correct wicks placed so that the entire surface of the wax up to the edge of the glass conatiner melts into a shallow wax pool. This allows more fragrance to be released and all of the wax to be used. The melted wax across the surface will reset hard after the candle is extinguished giving a new look to the candle for the next time it is used. The candle burns just as long with or without a wax pool.

Will the fragrance fill the room quickly?

Yes, because our larger, wider candle bowls have a bigger wax surface area and with more wick flames burning to create a beautiful melted wax pool, the scent is released faster and stronger.

The wax has tiny surface cracks visible when first received?

This is entirely normal where depending on temperatures during transit to you the soy wax can shrink slightly showing minute cracks or pullaway from the glass edge. This will disappear as soon as you light the candle which will melt the top layer of hard wax into a beautiful shallow and even wax pool covering the surface.

The wax colour is slightly creamy not pure white?

This is normal because we use natural soy wax with no hardener or whitening colour additives that other candle brands utilise so a slightly off white creamy orange tint is normal.
